It is with fantastic unhappiness that we share the information of the passing of Milton Corn, M.D., FACP, FACMI, Deputy Director for Exploration and Education. Dr. Corn labored at NLM for extra than 30 a long time. He died on Sunday, February 7, 2021.
Dr. Corn joined NLM in 1990 as Director of the Extramural Systems Division, with accountability for all elements of NLM’s grant programs and remained in that position until 2009 when he assumed the placement of Deputy Director for Investigate and Schooling.
As the Deputy Director for Study and Schooling, Dr. Corn was the principal healthcare advisor on research and development and healthcare education and learning priorities for NLM, where he presented way and guidance on the total array of NLM’s intramural and extramural analysis portfolio. He creatively modified NLM’s Schooling Plan in Biomedical Informatics to continue to keep tempo with developments in biomedical computing.
“Dr. Corn still left an indelible mark at NLM — from his considerable contributions to our analysis and grants applications to his superb leadership and superb feeling of humor,” said NLM Director, Patricia Flatley Brennan, RN, PhD. “He touched several life and will be significantly missed.”
Prior to his service at NLM, Dr. Corn served as Professor of Drugs at Georgetown College School of Medicine, in which he held a amount of management positions, such as Clinical Director of Georgetown College Hospital and Dean of the University of Medicine. Dr. Corn was a graduate of Yale Faculty and Yale Healthcare College. He completed his residency in internal drugs at Harvard University’s Peter Bent Brigham Hospital, and a fellowship in hematology at Johns Hopkins College.
Dr. Corn will be remembered for his lifelong motivation to instruction and investigate and his numerous contributions to the Countrywide Library of Medication and the broader biomedical informatics local community.
